Where have I been?

Wow, my last post was a month ago, and that's not like me. After our vacation, I was playing catch-up with my dissertation, classwork, and the rest of life’s chores. About day three home, I went into town and caught not one, but two cooties that had been floating around. I spent a week in bed, feeling downright sick, with my fever reaching 101.5. I had taken Rick to the airport a day before my symptoms started, so I was home alone and did not want to expose anyone. Thank goodness for Walmart delivery. I got some fluids, medication, and a thermometer to see how high my fever was. After receiving some fluids, I was able to drive to urgent care, which then sent me to the ER because they couldn't rule out appendicitis. Long story short, I had two different viruses that were spreading around town, and once I received medication and a liter of fluids, I felt a thousand times better.

It took about a week to get my energy back up, and I was playing catch-up again. I decided to decontaminate the house before Rick came home or I had anyone over. That turned into a deep spring cleaning: pulling out furniture, cleaning under the beds, clearing our dresser drawers, and making space in the closets.

I got caught up on my daily writing and work, wrapped up my dissertation submissions for this semester, and coursework. Rick came home in the interim, and I was juggling that with 2 and 3 am early morning fishing trips. Rick spent a lot of time this R&R home working on the boat, making many adjustments for this year. Our early am trips were testing new adjustments and practice runs.

One morning on the lake was amazing. The water was calm and the air still. As we came out of the canyon and headed back to the dock, the mountain range was perfectly reflected on the lake. A picturesque double image of the majestic mountains that surrounded the lake where we were fishing. I managed to grab a snapshot and was not disappointed.

There is also a bald eagle here, which I think is a lake resident, as we have seen it on all our trips. He is a little smaller in body mass, but has molted all his dark-colored feathers, so I am guessing he is about two. He was not spooked by us as we prepared the boat to leave. Such an amazing sight to see him perched high in the treetop, keeping a vigilant watch over his home.

Last week out on the lakes and on our drives there, I was gently reminded of what a beautiful place I live. Seven years later, the mountains are still a breathtaking sight as we travel from one honey hole to a secret fishing spot and onto world renowned Montana rivers. The short and sweet of it is that God’s hand has created this beautiful world we live in. Enjoy every moment while you are here.
