Where is Winter?
One thing Montana is known for is its brutal winters, with winds, snow, and sub-zero temperatures. Over the last seven winters I have lived here, I have shoveled snow paths for my elderly chihuahua, potty trained a wild German Shepard puppy, and loved on horses and mules. I have weathered the bitter cold, knee-deep snow, blustery winds, and guessed where the ditch is driving to feed and treat injured horses on the coldest of winter mornings and eves.
To call this weather right now winter would insult the Norse winter God Ullr, patron of winter sports. The first few mild weeks of winter were lovely, but as extended fall draws closer to Christmas, I am beginning to wonder where the snow is. The charm of snow and breathing icicle laden air during the first snowfall has always been a favorite of mine. And baby Dog loves catching snowballs to eat them and make puppy dog snow angels.
Fingers crossed, old man winter shows up for Christmas this year!
Does anyone else miss winter or prefer the temperate weather so far?
