Week One of 2026

Today marks the first week of 2026 as officially being over. How was that first week for you? Did you have a New Year’s resolution you began? How has your follow-through on the commitment you made been?

Sometimes it is difficult to make a change in our lives, even if it is planned. Our patterns of behavior are ingrained. We follow routines we did not even realize we had on autonomic function. So, when we decide to make a change, it is a focused effort to follow through.

I have found it helps when you talk with someone, a friend or a professional on the matter. If you want to start working out, create a buddy system, someone who goes with you. Go to a gym with personal trainers or classes you can sign up for. That little extra bit of accountability to someone or something else is enough to keep you going until the new habit becomes an ingrained part of your routine. Look for the benefits and positive side effects you are gaining from your change. Document them with pictures or write them down. Create a vision board! Something you can set goals and gauge your progress on. Be proud of the work you are putting into yourself.

Always make it fun! Fun equals more happiness and joy in your life. Increased positivity and all the good hormones you can get naturally! That is the short and sweet of it!
